Inskape inkscape select multiple objects2/25/2023 I wouldn't be surprised if not being able to delete multiple layers is a bug, but I'd need to do a bit of research on that, to find out for certain. With multiple layers selected in Objects dialog, the minus sign button in the dialog appears to delete the lowest selected layer. It does delete multiple selected objects, but not layers. However, I notice in the new Objects dialog, in version 0.92, it IS possible to select multiple objects and/or multiple layers by holding Ctrl key! That would be a very fast way to delete multiple layers, except that the Delete key doesn't seem to delete multiple selected layers. Navigate to Path>Object to Path, or use the shortcut Shift+Ctrl+C. Select the object you want to convert to a path (you can select multiple paths). But it seems like it might be a bug to me. First open Inkscape and create some shapes or text (an object). I can understand if developers were trying to prevent disaster by not allowing multiple selection or multiple deletion of layers. But I cannot select multiple layer/groups. I wondered if it would be possible to delete multiple layer/groups via the XML Editor. Not being able to delete multiple layers might have something to do with that, but that's just a guess. Since there is no SVG standard for layers, Inkscape layers are not true layers. One thing to note about layers in Inkscape. You can delete consecutive layers, by repeatedly clicking the minus sign button in the Layers dialog. Then with all the layers that you want to get rid of visible, Ctrl + a (select all), then Delete.Īlthough this leaves the layers in place, in the Layers dialog, they are all empty of contents. I think the easiest way to delete multiple layers at once would be to hide all the layers that you want to keep.
